E-num Usage

E-num is an authorization system ensuring WebMoney services access with a secret key (a unique cypherpad) stored in a user’s mobile phone/PDA or a biometric identifier. The system allows to store WM Keeper keys in its database, thus ensuring secure use of your electronic purses and Webmoney services virtually from any computer.

E-num is a user-friendly system. A user doesn’t have to remember sophisticated passwords, while the authorization procedure is based on either Challenge / Response model or fingerprint reading technology:

  • a user enters his / her e-mail at the secure access site page (in the software), after which a check digit is displayed to the user;
  • the user runs E-num application in his / her mobile phone and enters the check digit. After that, the response value is shown at the phone screen;
  • the user enters the response value in the authorization field at the site (in the software) and gets access to secure sections.

To use E-num authorization system, you should have:

  • e-mail

and at least one of the four devices:

  • a Java-enabled phone;
  • a PDA/communicator running under Windows Mobile or PocketPC OS;
  • iPhone or iPhone 3G;
  • a fingerprint reader.

  2. In the specified e-mail box, open the e-mail containing the link to the registration confirmation page. Click this link (not later then in 24 hours after you have received the e-mail).
  3. In the page that is opened in your browser, check if the mobile phone number is correct and choose at least one method of using the service:
    • Java midlet. A Java-enabled mobile application;
    • Windows Mobile application. Microsoft Windows Mobile-based PDA/communicator software;
    • iPhone application;
    • Fingerprint identification (requires fingerprint reader).
      Then click “Confirm”.
  4. Accept SMS message to your mobile phone with the activation code and the WAP link to E-num client download. Make sure that the email with the installation files has been sent to the specified e-mail address. If you haven’t received the SMS message during 10 – 15 minutes, it is necessary to use "Registration SMS message resending procedure ": https://www.enum.ru/re_sms.aspx?lang=en-US.
  5. Download and install E-num client files using either the WAP link, the files attached to the e-mail or the links at the activation page:
    • when using Java midlet, use EnumClient.jad and EnumClient.jar;
    • when using Windows Mobile (Pocket PC) application, use EnumClientInst.cab (for older WM versions, it is necessary to install .NET Compact Framework 2.0 before installing E-num client);
    • iPhone users: see E-num client for iPhone instruction
  6. At the account activation page, enter the code received in the SMS message and click Activate.
  7. Start E-num client at the device (mobile phone, communicator or PDA) and enter the activation code.
  8. If you have chosen “Fingerprint identification” during the registration, go to Fingerprint page and provide your biometrical data. To use this identification method, you need the fingerprint reader with drivers installed and "E-num client ": http://www.e-num.ru/fingerprint_download.aspx.

Keep the activation code in a secure place as you can need it in case you reinstall E-num client, e.g., if the mobile phone or the PDA is changed.

Please note as well that each e-mail can be used in the system only once, while one and the same mobile telephone number can be registered for multiple accounts.

Account setting

Personal area of E-num service allows users:

  • to view the authorization log;
  • to enable/disable various authorization methods;
  • to add/delete additional e-mails that can be used for authorization;
  • to enable/disable e-mail notifications about successful or failed user authorizations.

Please be especially careful when disabling authorization methods as it can result to losing the account access. E.g., if you disable “Identification by E-num client” the user won’t be able to enter the personal area using only this authorization method, and will be able to restore access only after changing the key.

Enabling fingerprint identification option allows a user to register up to 10 fingerprints in E-num database. Any of them can be used for E-num authorization.

To use this method, you need the fingerprint reader with installed drivers and E-num client.
