If you want to collect donations for charity purposes or in support of some project without awarding sponsors, then the "Donations" section is right for you.

Main differences from crowdfunding:

• absence of rewards;
• possibility not to set up a concrete timeframe.

Just like in crowdfunding in a charity project it is important to indicate the project purposes, its budget, timeframe etc. However it is not mandatory. For example the author has created a free software and placed it on their site? If so then this program can be downloaded by anybody. The author’s goal is not commercial but they are not against some sort of remuneration from its users as a form of gratitude. The author can place a funding widget on their site and this will be enough.
